A sponsor conducting a Phase 2 clinical trial in Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) faced significant enrollment challenges driven by disease burden, study complexity, and patient hesitation around trial participation. To improve recruitment performance and support enrollment objectives, the sponsor engaged Patient Advocacy Strategies (PAS) to develop a more patient-centered approach to awareness, engagement, and participant recruitment.
The sponsor recognized that traditional recruitment tactics alone would not be sufficient to reach and educate potential participants, requiring a strategy that better aligned with patient needs and decision-making processes.
PAS partnered closely with the sponsor and the patient advocacy community to co-develop a patient-informed engagement and recruitment strategy. The initiative aligned patient education, advocacy collaboration, and targeted outreach efforts to create a coordinated recruitment experience that addressed common barriers to participation.
The campaign incorporated patient-focused educational resources, advocacy engagement, digital outreach, and recruitment tools designed to increase awareness of the study while helping prospective participants better understand the trial opportunity. PAS worked to ensure that messaging reflected the realities of living with IPF, creating a more relevant and trusted experience for patients and caregivers.
Through a coordinated, surround-sound recruitment campaign, PAS successfully educated, engaged, and enrolled 164 participants globally, enabling the study to achieve enrollment goals ahead of schedule.
By integrating patient advocacy partnerships, participant education, and targeted engagement strategies, PAS helped the sponsor overcome enrollment barriers and accelerate study recruitment while maintaining a patient-centered approach throughout the process.
